Hadn't even really thought of that, they wouldn't be subject to tough time constraints there would would be with renovation. And we're also not talking about them having to fix up all 6 or even 3 buildings and the costs that come with it, just the one.

Wonder how many of our area schools get Title 1 grants?

I don't have a clue, but I would say not many. That would effect inner city schools more than it would touch anything around here.

Aren't they in the old Verizon/ATT building close to Sykes? What kind of incentive did they get to move in there? They have had to have gotten some kind of incentive to even think about coming in here even if it was in the old Verizon/ATT building.

All schools here get some sort of Title I funding. Look at the pre-k classes, the after-school programs, etc.

That doesn't mean it all or any of it has or did come from that type of funding, I'm not saying schools in this area don't, but I doubt it's really any big amount. Those are aimed/given to areas hit hard by poverty/have a high-number of disadvantage kids...we certainly have some, but compared to a lot of other areas we're doing pretty good.

And what type of incentives are we talking? A tax incentive? That word means a lot of things esp. when we're talking about business/economics, usually just means some kind of factor that is good for business.

Why do you think any business such as that or someone that would come in and hire multiple people would build or even consider opening in any area? Wise county has lost many more business' than it has gotten because the county wouldn't give the same incintives (or any) as another.

After a quick search- none. We get some other funding, but not title 1.
